Why the Name?

I came up with IrrationalEnvy on a car ride home from the beach after a run.  Driving a very practical, 45+ MPG hybrid, I saw luxury car after luxury car on my drive inland and thought to myself (as I have for many, many years) what I need to accomplish to afford such class.

Maybe it was the run, depleting my ego (and brain) of sufficient oxygen, that allowed me to ask myself why I wanted such high-cost material goodness.   …fortunately, I then realized there really was no rational answer.

I wanted it, for the most part, because I wanted to have nice, expensive things and be envied by those that saw me.

Hence, IrrationalEnvy.
